A Rocha is a global family of conservation organizations working together to live out God’s calling to care for creation and equip others to do likewise.
We share five core commitments: we are Christians who work in nature conservation, and are committed to nurturing community, cultural-diversity and collaboration. Under the A Rocha Worldwide Family Covenant, we seek opportunities for joint working and together aim to increase our conservation impact, grow our geographical reach, engage youth and young people in our work, and strengthen our engagement with Christian communities. The A Rocha Commitment to Creation Care outlines the biblical basis of all our work.
A Rocha was founded in 1983 and our first project was a Field Study Centre and Bird Observatory in Southern Portugal. We now have a presence on six continents, with organizations in 20 countries and counting, and a network of friends in many more.
Our conservation work includes scientific study, environmental education, habitat protection and restoration, sustainable livelihoods, community engagement and theology and church programmes.
